Above green pen,on previous page200 Ma butterfly was taken ON TOP of the exact same location ,to the atom-on matrix rock photos below.
Seems odd ,until realising that successive ancient wing 'imprints' are sharing perimineralisation locations ,sometimes even to the exact juxtaposition vertically ,as in the case of the ancient wasp body and wings below the previous page's spec of dust sized butterfly !

Did you know that 27 000 tons of protozoan diatoms are blown ,from the Sahara Desert -across the Atlantic Ocean each year,on average?
That's only the average weight of protozoans deposited in the Brazilian Rainforest per year , diatoms up to 3 billion years old ,at least (Some say 3.5Ga) .There is a whole branch following aeolian dust - 'whiting events'.For example Clam shrimp eggs can live inactive for many years - then suddenly be blown very long distances - and be brought to life....Process repeats round half ( or more ) - the very ancient world has records of these events in surprising locations ,reaching far back in geological record..
There are studies on how the dust can protect the world from severe hurricane storms -by a difference as small as .03 to .06mm density 'depth' of dust cloud ,as it meets moist air..

There was one man ,my half NL best mentor - the 'compost man' who ,since his 43rd birthday -3 months coma-coming out of it - knew he was blind ,and prayed fervently NEVER to get his sight back.This is part of the garden he saw 'while away'- more real than his eyes could give certainty to.
Of all the flowers in that secret garden - Andrea's butterfly was born of blindness- still in crysalis ,as it were.
The clarity of sanity is not conducive to recognising the past.How much further removed from memorable occurences - how much less the sanity.The following is from a 300m core from central germany.After applying abnormal capsules of Hydrogen Flouride to the relevant sections- microscopic scales appeared.Only a nose hair could fish out one scale per SEM ( electron microscope) 'take'.
After 16 years of suspicious activity ,I managed to get a one in a million shot of the complete version of the fully assembled ,dust sized moth 'above'.
But not before I spent many months ,courtesy of "The Carboniferous Timescale" 1000 pages sorting what was cockroach wings ,and what might be different from that much used dating bio 'layer'.. (Not easy ) -as none of the following are in any books to be found...Yup
a world first,apart from the 19 other life forms to be found in similar (non) catergories on this impossible matrix !
SO here's what I first saw ,and wondered how to get a shot of.Like forever...
So imagine my surprise - when swaying like I was praying at the wailing wall ,on my knees -3 hernias preventing the focal points of Gis's camera from lining up - in twilight,and optic box .
That's like a whole overview that I totally missed originally assuming that 'one' position = one fossil.
Not necessarily the case !
Wierd thing is that it required only a very faint shift of light to 'see' the other fossil 'underneath'-which looks less like a butterfly ,than a sort of -less elusive- 'hybrid bee/beetle'.The months even years (16) preparing for the 'first' semi bee/beetle hybrid had simply not prepared me for the superimposition of true recognisable dust spec sized 'butterfly' ,almost exactly 'above' 'bee/beetle hybrid'.
Such are the uses of blindness,and insanity.
NB the first 'slab' butterfly is to give an idea of what is involved when the imprint is NOT small ,or easy to superimpose a myriad of (visible in certain wavelengths of light) -
underneath.

The multi refraction ,high tensile ,single space cell is called a 'gyroid'

Each scale is made up of many connected gyroids -which can bear so much lateral torsional stresses ,that engineers are inspired today to utilise that for strength in flexible structures.
